The Organization

Johnstone & Ritchie Professional Search is a retainer-based executive search firm that excels in the recruitment of executives and senior technical staff for the energy sector both domestically and internationally. Our company is based on three full-time principals and two associates who together have over 60 years of experience in retainer-based executive search.

Why Consider This Role?

We are a small, entrepreneurial team of professionals that consistently empower our clients with the finest staff in the energy industry.  We also offer a friendly and positive environment where we “work to live”, not “live to work”.

Team Dynamics

The successful candidate will report to the partners, Trevor Johnstone and Randy Ritchie.  You will also provide support to our Senior Consultant and Senior Research Associate.

Activities and Responsibilities

We are offering the successful candidate the opportunity and the autonomy to completely manage our administrative affairs, from the front desk to accounting. The successful candidate will be responsible for a range of duties, including:

  • Preparing and proofreading career opportunity profiles and reports, such as candidate appraisals
  • Accounting for our company and its holding companies, including weekly entering of expenses, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and year-end preparation
  • Managing our website content on a weekly basis
  • Researching office equipment purchases and marketing materials
  • Banking, errands within the downtown core, and processing of incoming and outgoing mail
  • Additional responsibilities as required

Once you master the management of administration, you will delegate a portion of your time to researching the energy industry and recording significant news, especially as it pertains to our executive search projects. This will require internet research, data mining our own database, and reviewing industry periodicals. With your polished presentation manner and professional attitude, you will have the opportunity to build positive relationships with our clients and candidates, both in person and over the phone. The ideal candidate is an individual who will actively look for opportunities to add value to our firm, apply their own initiative and suggest strategies we can adopt to further streamline our processes and procedures.

Skills and Experience

To be successful, you have a minimum of 2 years of previous office administration experience and a post-secondary education in business administration, human resources or a related discipline.  Attention will also be given to those candidates who have proven experience in customer service and exposure to Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word) and QuickBooks. We work in a service-oriented industry which can at times be a fast-paced work environment, so it is expected that you take initiative, be proactive and work independently with minimal supervision. You are a dedicated team player and are responsive, communicative and receptive to constructive input from your team.

Remuneration & Potential Advancement

We offer a competitive base salary, yearly performance bonus and health benefits. This individual will have the opportunity to receive training and coaching to advance their career within the recruitment industry.
